Earth Day

Earth Day is every day

Earth Day, celebrated April 22, is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year.
Earth Day 2009, April 22, will mark the beginning of The Green Generation CampaignTM which will also be the focus of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day in 2010. With negotiations for a new global climate agreement coming up in December, Earth Day 2009 must be a day of action and civic participation, to defend The Green GenerationTM's core principles: Family with windmills: Renewable energy for future generations.

What to do today and every day?
1. Take a bus today! Or ride your bike :)
2. Replace your light bulbs with energy efficient ones
3. Be creative and come up with an innovative way to live green
4. Adopt a beach, a park, or a street and help clean it up
5. Forward links of environmental websites to your friends and family
6. Buy an electric car
7. Get a solar gadget
8. Cut down on the amount of paper/water/energy you use
9. … just Go Green

Hi, my precious friend!
I also love our planet and I want to keep it clean for the children of my children and their children and so on… But I must addmit something: I do it actually in little steps: I try not to use a lot of paper but: I need it for a birthday card, for a letter, I read newspapers and I use it in the toilet! I don’t leave lamps on if I am not in the room but: I need the energy to watch TV, to be now at the computer or to iron my shirt! I like to have new cloths, furniture etc. And I like soooo much driving my car everyday and also everyday speaking on my cell phone!!! I admit it: I fit to the nowadays society perfectly: I am a real CONSUMER and I am addicted to the useful products of the human civilization.
The question is: can I give up all those nice inventions?
Do you think you can do it? And where is the limit of our love to the Mother Nature? Is it our problem?

Dear Helix,

imagine the following: You have a wonderful husband and 3 beautiful children.
Every day you have to cook, iron, clean, bathe 3 children, wash, launder, mop, ventilate, dump the trash etc. etc.
Someday you are so tired and weak .... the question is: can you give up your beautiful children just because you are tired?
Could your husband help u with cooking?
Could the oldest child take a shower by himself?
Could one child help by dumping the trash? ...

We all are children of the Nature and every single day we have to do something to keep our mommy clean, beautiful, smiling and fresh ...

Earth day is a fantastic time for everyone to come to the realization that we have to do our part to save the planet. For instance, if everyone had a low-water toilet (using only a cup full of water to flush) look at the impact that would have on the earths water supply and waste removal? It's a facinating subject, Earth day is!
